More than130
primary school children from Carrickfergus took part in the EU Peace Cup organised by Carrick Rangers Football Development
Centre funded by the EU Programme for peace and reconciliation and in partnership with the PSNI, Housing Executive, Irish
FA and University of Ulster.
The Peace
Cup was aimed at the primary 4 and 5 age group as an introduction to the game and included a section for boys and a section
for girls. The competition was played in a great spirit with all schools taking part with a ethos of fun and fair play.
Kyle Ferguson
the Director of Educational Development said that the day was a great success bringing schools from throughout Carrickfergus
together for a day of fun, friendship and sport and shows what can be achieved within the community when various groups work
together. Funding from the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation provided by The Carrickfergus Local Strategy Partnership
made the day possible yet the support of The PSNI, Housing Executive, University of Ulster and Irish FA ensured that a number
of teams could attend that wouldn’t normally be able to and that is a credit to the community work of all groups involved.
Congratulations
to all who took part, winners of the girls section were Victoria
and Whitehead were the winners of the boys section.
